What is the Foreclosure Prevention Program?

There are two different programs available to help households prevent foreclosure.

The basic Foreclosure Prevention provides up to $10,000 in assistance to households to bring their mortgage current. In exchange, weatherization and energy efficiency upgrades will be required. If necessary, additional funds may be made available for these repairs.

The second program, Extended Foreclosure Prevention, provides up to $12,400 in assistance and includes six to eight months of assistance with mortgage payments once the mortgage is brought current. In exchange, the heads of household must undergo employment counseling and job search training. To be eligible, applicant must be able to provide proof of a recent loss of income equal to 30 percent or more of total income.

Both programs are available for the primary residence of homeowners within Charlotte County. Investment properties are not eligible. To receive financial assistance, households must earn 120 percent or less of the Area Median Income for Charlotte County Florida.
